Those who have seen the movie roja can never forget the vella paniyaram dialogue by a thatha, I was just in my school days when I saw that movie but still remember it so fresh.Good old days I was waiting to try and taste it, finally it happened.
Vella paniyaram recipe
Vella paniyaram recipe chettinad version of vella paniyaram with video
- 1 cup levelled raw rice
- around 2 tbsp urad dal on heap of raw rice
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- salt to taste
- In 1 cup measure take raw rice level it well on top, now add urad dal till heap this is the measure.Take in a bowl rinse well and drain.Add it to mixer.
- Add water little by little and grind to a fine paste.Transfer to a bowl.
- Add salt,sugar and water if needed to bring it to dosa batter consistency.Heat oil in a kadai, using a deep curved laddle pour a laddle ful.
- Let it raise and puff up.
- Flip over and cook ,then drain and serve.
- Serve hot with milagai chtuney!
