Dalgona candy recipe, Korean sponge candy recipe

Dalgona candy recipe with stepwise pictures and video.Dalgona is a Korean candy made with melted sugar and baking soda as main ingredients very popular street snack.It has a light and crunchy texture.

According to wikipedia dalgona candy is honeycomb toffeesponge toffeecinder toffee or hokey pokey is a sugary toffee with a light, rigid, sponge-like texture.

I am sure this will be fun to make with kids and they will love eating it too!

Dalgona candy recipe

Dalgona candy recipe with just 2 ingredients

Ingredients

For 1 candy:

  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/8 tsp cooking soda
  • Oil for greasing

For 5 candies:

  • 5 tbsp sugar
  • 3/4 tsp cooking soda

Instructions

  • First grease small cookie cutters with oil, keep aside.Keep the ingredients ready.Grease butter paper with oil and keep it ready.We should be ready with all this as we have to be very quick else the candy will start setting before we pour.
  • Take a heavy bottomed tadka pan, I used my iron tadka pan.Add 1 tbsp sugar,heat it up.When sugar starts to melt at the edges start mixing with lollipop stick or toothpick.Keep stirring in low flame, lift the pan and keep stirring.
  • Once sugar is almost dissolved, add soda and switch off the flame.Keep stirring it will slightly bubble and color changes to light brown.
  • Quickly pour this on the greased sheet and place the lollipop stick.
  • Leave for 3 seconds then press with greased cookie cutter and take it out.It will be hot so be careful.Set aside undisturbed for 5 mins then remove and it easily comes out.
  • Likewise make all other candies.You can make in bulk too.

Notes

  • Keep everything ready as we need to be fast while pouring else the candy will start setting in the pan itself.
  • I did it individially as handling camera I was doubtlful if I will mess it up so didnt want to risk it.Infact mittu was with me throughout the shoot and she thoroughlly enjoyed it.
  • But if you are making you can make in bulk as given in the measures.
  • If you want small lollipops then you can get 2 lollipops for 1 tbsp sugar but make sure yo choose cookie cutter accordingly.
  • To clean the pan - as soon as you pour soak the pan in water then after 10 mins scrub well and wash it.
