Panjiri recipe, How to make panjiri recipe


Panjiri recipe a traditional sweet made with wheat flour ,ghee, nuts and dry fruits.Its a punjabi special dry sweet, easy to make and tastes so good even with minimal ingredients.

Actually there are many variation to panjiri recipe like you can make it with rava, add dessicated coconut etc.But this one I saw in a tamil magazine long back and wrote the recipe and kept and finally tried it for this year Gokulashtami.I did not add any additional ingredients thought to stick with the recipe itself so this is a simple panjiri recipe with easily available ingredients.

Panjiri recipe a authentic sweet made with whole wheat flour, ghee,nuts and dry fruits.

  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup makhana
  • 1+2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tbsp cashew (roughly chopped)
  • 1 tbsp badam (roughly chopped)
  • 1 tbsp pista (roughly chopped)
  • 1 tbsp raisin
  • 1/2 cup cane sugar

You can even add 1/4 cup desiccated coconut(roast and add)

  1. Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a kadai- add all the 3 nuts,fry until crisp and golden,Remove and set aside.Now add raisins and fry until it bubbles up and is golden.Transfer to a bowl and set aside.
  2. Add makhana and roast it until crisp and golden.Break and see to check if its crisp.Transfer to a bowl and set aside.Now add remaining 2 tbsp ghee to the kadai.
  3. Now add wheat flour and roast without any lumps, even if it forms break it and roast the flour.
  4. Roast until its golden and nice aroma comes.See the color and texture change in the tile pic.Switch off and set aside to cool.
  5. When its still warm, add cane sugar and roasted ingredients.Mix well.
  6. Store in a clean dry airtight container.
  • You can add powdered normal white sugar itself but cane sugar tastes best.
  • You can keep in room temperature for about a week and enjoy.
