coriander powder

Ever since i got my hamilton beach blender, i have been making spice powders at home. I am never ever buying store bought spices again. I made my own batch of chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, cumin and pepper powder at home in my blender and i am loving it. Will soon share a review of my blender.

Making coriander powder from fresh coriander seeds is not at all a big deal. Some people sun dry coriander seeds before grinding. But i tend to roast it so the oils from the seeds can come out which makes it smell wonderful.

You can check my homemade pepper powder.

You have to keep these important things in mind before making coriander powder from coriander seeds.

1)Roasting Coriander seeds:

Always Roast on low to medium heat so it doesnt get burned. If the seeds gets burnt then it will completely ruin the coriander powder.

2) Never leave coriander seeds unattended.

Keep mixing when roasting. Never leave it without mixing else it will burn.

3)Cool before grinding and storing:

Always cool the coriander seeds before grinding and also cool it completely before storing the coriander powder. Spread it on a paper or plate and cool it. Always store in a air tight container.

4)How long can we store coriander powder:

You can store coriander powder for over 2 months. If you are making a large batch store it in freezer.
