Here are the benefits of Amla juice:
- Rich in Vitamin C to begin with, which is most known benefit. Hence improves immunity naturally when consumed in regular basis.
- When had in empty stomach, it acts like a detox as it is good for liver health.
- Good for digestion as well as appetite.
- Also it improves heart health.
- Good for hair growth. You can add more nutrients when you add curry leaves along.
- Said to be good for diabetics, when consumed with bitter gourd.
Consumption
You can consume this in empty stomach, 2-3 times a week since we are having it in juice form which have around 3-4 amla in it.
Empty stomach or as mid morning drink also it works. We usually avoid taking amla (Indian gooseberry/ Peru nellikai) in the night as it is said to give you cold.

Top tip
How to make amla juice tasty:
- Instead of consuming amla extract as such, make it more palatable as juice with other ingredients. Such as adding honey or salt, adding other ingredients like vegetables will balance the strong taste.
- For ¼ cup of chopped amla, you can add 1 cup of water or more according to how strong the fruit is. Adjust sweetener or salt to balance as needed.
Substitutions
If you are looking for vegan option in the sweet version, you can substitute it with any other vegan friendly sweeteners like jaggery, coconut sugar, maple syrup etc.
